N810 with WiMax finally announced

The ultimate move in WiMax would be big corporates making their products public. This is the case with Nokia, I have seen little publicity from networks about the new wireless technology, but once Nokia pushes them, we will see some useful growth in them. The Nokia N810 WiMAX Edition is expected to be available in the United States during the summer of 2008, and had been leaked long time ago as Nokia N830.

Motorola and the WiMax Second generation cards

Motorola today unveiled two new 802.16e Wave 2-ready WiMAX devices. The desktop CPEi 750 and PCCw 200 PC card are part of a new generation of WiMAX devices designed to bring end-users higher data rates at a lower cost. These and other WiMAX customer premises equipment (CPE) and devices, along with Motorola’s WiMAX infrastructure solutions, will be on display enabling personal media experiences in Motorola’s booth (#8A159) at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona Feb. 11-14, 2008.

I believe that not much is being seen in WiMax networks, in terms of mobile phones or even laptop built-in modules, and especially little advertisement is being shown, atleast on most countries. By 2009, WiMax should be replacing technologies like iBurst and GPRS/EDGE networks, and someday even HSDPA and HSUPA.

Online gaming, Opera web browsing possible thanks to WiMax device

POSBRO and Opera have joined forced to create the first online-gaming-through-WiMax device.

Opera 9 will be the web browser used, and since WiMax can hit speeds over 70mbps depending on network speeds, browsing will be lightning fast.

The device will feature a 4 inch touchscreen, WiFi, Bluetooth, and you can use it as a WiMax modem on a PC.

The G100 has a slide form, when pushing the slide down, it reveals PlayStation type gaming keys.

The device will be available in Korea, as the manufacturer has struck a deal with the network. As WiMax networks evolve, we will probably see more devices alike.
